I arrived in cape town to be met by family at the airport, albeit 6 hours late due to missing 3 connecting flights in Johannesburg. Though the missed flights afforded me the opportunity to have a few beers and some dinner with Sean who was on the same flight as me from London and missed his connection too.
I didn’t wast any time getting into the surf and met up with fellow burner, Bianca, at Muizenberg beach for a Friday morning surf, brunch and catch-up. The surf was messy and small but the water addiction was fed after a few dry weeks in London. The food was a scrumptious roasted veg salad, South Africa does cater particularly well for veggies considering its meaty reputation. The conversation was refreshing and left me inspired for more such interactions along my travels.
The weekend was shared among family, surfing and rock climbing before the journey west to find some wind and waves started with my parents. The climbing gave me a chance to try out a new angle of sports photography, one which I rather enjoyed. The contrast provided by the rocks in the quarry make for some striking images which I’ve shared in the gallery below.Facebook API came back with a faulty result.
